Google Maps
Display interactive maps and address autocomplete on your website
Overview
The Google Maps plugin enables interactive maps, address autocomplete, and location features across your website. It is used by other features such as the Store Locator and contact pages to display maps and provide directions. The plugin offers two modes: a default CMS Max Enterprise key (no setup required) or your own custom Google Maps API key.
Setup
- Navigate to Settings > Plugins
- Find Google Maps and click to open the settings page
- Click Save and Install
- Choose your API key source (see below)

Configuration
API Key Selection
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| CMS Max Google Cloud Console API Key | The default option. Uses a shared API key included with your CMS Max subscription. No additional setup is needed. |
| Custom | Use your own Google Maps API key. Recommended for high-traffic sites or if you need usage control. |
Using the CMS Max Enterprise Key
Select CMS Max Google Cloud Console API Key (the default) and save. No further configuration is required.
Using a Custom API Key

If you choose Custom, you will need a Google Cloud Platform account with billing enabled:
- Go to the Google Cloud Console
- Create a project (or select an existing one)
- Enable the following APIs:
- Maps JavaScript API
- Geocoding API
- Distance Matrix API
- Places API
- Maps Embed API
- Go to Credentials and create an API key
- Restrict the key to your domain(s) under Application restrictions > HTTP referrers
- Paste the key into the Your Google Maps API Key field and save
