Locations & Store Locator

#Overview

The Locations & Store Locator plugin adds a store finder to your website that automatically detects where a visitor is located and shows them the nearest business location. It is well-suited for any business with multiple physical locations, including retail stores, spas, salons, restaurants, and food service establishments.

#What Customers See

When a customer visits your store locator page, the plugin uses their device location to identify which of your locations is closest to them. The nearest location is displayed first, along with relevant business information like address, hours, and photos.

#Getting Started

To enable the Store Locator plugin, navigate to Settings > Plugins in your admin panel, locate Store Locator, and click Install.

#Managing Your Locations

All locations are managed from your admin panel:

1. Go to Locations in the left menu of your admin panel
2. Click New Location to add a business address
3. For each location, you can enter:
   • Address — the physical street address
   • Operating hours — your opening and closing times for each day. Tick Open all day for a day you never close and the website shows "Open 24 hours" for it; tick Closed all day and it shows "Closed"
   • Photos — a gallery of images for the location
   • Additional details — any other relevant business information
4. Click Save to publish the location

To update an existing location, find it in the Locations list and click on it to open the edit form.

#Showing a Map on Location Pages

Each individual location page can display a map pinpointing that location. To turn this on or off, go to Settings > Plugins > Store Locator and use the Show map on location pages toggle. The map is shown by default.

The map needs the Google Maps plugin, so the toggle is greyed out until Google Maps is configured — use the Configure Google Maps link beside the toggle to set it up. Until then, location pages simply leave the map out; your saved preference is kept and takes effect as soon as Google Maps is configured.

A location also needs to have its coordinates filled in before its map can appear. Coordinates are set automatically when you pick an address for the location, so if a map is missing on one location page while showing on others, re-select that location's address to refresh them.

#Requirements

This plugin requires a Google Maps API key to enable automatic location detection and map display. Your site administrator will need to configure the API key in the plugin settings before the store locator will work on your website.
