Themes
An introduction to the CMS Max theme system and how it controls your site's appearance
Overview
Your site's theme controls how everything looks — the colors, fonts, layout, header, footer, and overall visual style. CMS Max uses a flexible theme system that lets you customize your site's appearance without affecting how your content is stored or managed.
Each site uses one active theme at a time. Within that theme, you can customize colors, fonts, images, and layout sections to match your brand.

What You Can Customize
CMS Max gives you several ways to adjust your site's appearance:
- Theme Colors — Set your primary and secondary brand colors, which apply throughout the site (buttons, links, accents)
- Fonts — Choose heading and body text fonts
- Site Images — Upload your logo, favicon, mobile logo, and social sharing image
- Header and Footer — Edit the content and layout of your site's header and footer
- Layouts — Choose which page layout template to use for different content types
- Custom Sections — Create unique header or footer variations for specific pages
Where to Find Theme Settings
Most theme settings are in the Template section of the admin sidebar:
| Menu Item | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Template > Theme Configuration | Colors, fonts, logos, layouts, and global JavaScript |
| Template > Theme Sections | Header, footer, and other site-wide content areas |
| Template > Theme Files | Advanced CSS customization (for experienced users) |
| Menu Manager | Navigation menus and link structure (top-level sidebar item) |
